How is child support determined in Oregon?
How is child support determined in Oregon? Child support in Oregon, thankfully, is run by a guideline calculation. That guideline calculation takes into account several factors. The major factors are gross incomes of the parties and annual number of overnights with the child and or children. There are less important factors that are considered. Who pays Union dues? Who covers health insurance for the children? Are there any work related daycare expenses? That calculation spits out what's called a rebuttable presumption. That means that that number that comes out of the calculation should be correct as parties earn more or less. It is modifiable upon proper motion to the court. But the guideline calculation kind of is what it is and that's the amount of support that is generally going to be due.
