Pacific Cascade Legal has adopted a Colleague Appreciation Recognition Program to highlight members from our incredible team who have been shining in their position, and serving as a source of support in the lives of their coworkers and clients. Every month, employees are encouraged to nominate one coworker who they feel represents our firm’s core values, which they can do via an online system we have at the office. At the end of each month, our Leadership Team reads through all of our nominations, and choses one employee for that month’s Colleague Appreciation Award.
Our March Colleague Appreciation Winner was Intake Lead, Danielle Crockett. We asked Danielle a few questions to highlight her path to our firm, and what motivates her to excel in her role:
How long have you been working at the firm?
“It will be five years in September 2023.”
What led you down this career path to where you are today with PCL?
“I initially started at the firm as the reception right out of college. I loved that the firm felt like one big family and everyone cared about what they did and our clients. I knew I wanted to stay with the firm in one way or another. An intake position opened up and here I am, three years later, the team lead of the intake team.”
Do you have a motto or personal mantra that you feel influences how you go about life?
“Short memory. It’s what my dad always said to me in sports and it has stuck with me ever since. It’s my way of acknowledging my mistakes and learning from them, but not holding on to them. This prevents me from being too hard on myself, holding onto negativity that could impact my future, and allowing myself to stay positive.”
If you could have any job for just one day, what would it be?
“Stay at home fur mom!”
What does a day in your life look like on a work week?
“My mornings are pretty slow. I get up and feed my dog, water my garden, and I’m currently working on a sourdough starter that I have to feed 1-2 times a day. I hop on my computer to start my day and on my first break I do 15 minutes of duo lingo to learn Spanish. On my lunch I will either do a chore and eat, or go to the gym for a quick workout and then come home and eat. I then hop back on to continue working until my last break where I take my dog on a walk with my boyfriend. I then work until my work day is over. I usually end the night with either a sport (softball, kickball, dodgeball, or pickleball), or cook some dinner and have a relaxing night in.”
What do you find most fulfilling about your job/what aspects do you like the most?
“I love that at intake, not only do we help get potential clients set up as clients, but we also help point people in the right direction if it’s not something our firm can help with. A lot of people that come to us are completely lost and we have a great team that gives them the resources they need.”
What have you gained since working at Pacific Cascade Legal?
“I’ve gained a lot since working for Pacific Cascade Legal, but I’d say the biggest thing to me is confidence. Pacific Cascade Legal has provided me with so many tools to be successful in what I do, and that has allowed me to gain confidence. My coworkers and supervisors have also been a huge part in my success and confidence with how much they all support me.”
What’s on your wish list for the years ahead at Pacific Cascade?
“I would love to see the intake team continue to grow as a team and all meet in person one day!”
What advice would you give to recent new hires as they begin their journey at PCL?
“Learn our firm core values. We truly follow those and if you’re on board with them, you are going to do GREAT here.”
